The number of new laws per state varies between 1 and 27
Nearly 300 police reform bills were approved by state governors after Floyd's May 2020 killing in Minneapolis, according to data from the National Conference of State Legislators.
The analysis by the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism focused on laws passed since June 2020 that affect police oversight, training, use of force policie and mental health, including crisis interventions and alternatives to arrests.
